What Canfiti shows
Misfires per cylinder
Two charts: the current cycle and the average over 10 cycles. The second catches intermittent misfires that happen once every few minutes. For 6- and 8-cylinder engines the app shows the cylinder numbering by bank.
Fuel trim
Short- and long-term trim for bank 1 and bank 2. Normal is ±10 %; plus means the unit is enriching the mixture. Colors help: green is normal, orange needs attention, red is an alarm.
Fuel pressure
Every pressure the ECU reports, plus commanded vs actual for the rail regulator with the deviation. Values the ECU does not support are labeled as such.
Oil temperature
Engine oil temperature, if the engine unit reports it.
VIN and unit number
The vehicle VIN and the engine unit part number.
A real case
After a long trip an Infiniti FX owner saw a huge misfire count in cylinder 1 in Canfiti, with almost none in the others. The cause was confirmed: the cylinder 1 ignition coil had burned out.
How many misfires are normal?
A few misfires are nothing to worry about: 4–5 per hour of driving is not alarming. Watch for a cylinder that clearly stands out on the 10-cycle average chart.
Guide: reading misfires and fuel trimsVerified on these vehicles
Misfires, fuel trims and fuel pressure are verified on the VK56-powered Infiniti QX56/QX80; the Nissan Patrol and Armada Y62 use the same engine.
It also works on many other Nissan and Infiniti vehicles with a CAN bus — connect and check. If it works, tell us and we will add your model to the list.
