BCM · Body control unit
Hidden body control module (BCM) settings for Nissan and Infiniti
The BCM stores factory options that usually only the dealer changes. Canfiti lists them clearly: enable DRL or the one-touch lane change signal, turn off the rain sensor or headlamp washer — no soldering and no wiring changes.
What you can change
Option names match the app’s “Body control unit” screen. The set depends on your car’s BCM firmware.
-
Daytime running lights (DRL)
Turn DRL on or choose which lamps act as DRL. The lights come on with the engine running when you release the parking brake — that is how the unit logic works.
In the app: “DTLR Mode”Without DTLR · Fog lamp · Head light · Head light (euro) · Led · Led (euro)
Step-by-step guide -
Fog lamps in AUTO mode
Decides what happens to the fog lamps when the light sensor in AUTO mode switches on the low beam.
In the app: “Fog lamp override in AUTO”
Step-by-step guide -
One-touch lane change signal
Tap the stalk to the first click and the turn signal flashes three times by itself. Handy for lane changes, and you never forget a blinker on.
In the app: “Lane change turn multiflash signal”
Step-by-step guide -
Headlamp washer
Turn the headlamp washer off so the nozzles do not break in winter ice and you save fluid, or set how long the pump runs.
In the app: “Headlamp washer mode”OFF · 0.2 to 5 seconds
Step-by-step guide -
Rain sensor
If the wipers sweep without a pause in the first position after a windshield replacement, turn the sensor off and the interval becomes adjustable again.
In the app: “Wiper rain sensor”
Step-by-step guide -
Drip wipe
An extra wiper stroke a few seconds after washing to clear the drips that run down.
In the app: “Drip wipe”Front and rear off · front only · rear only · both on
Step-by-step guide -
Rear wiper in reverse
When the front wipers are on, the rear wiper makes a couple of strokes as you shift into reverse.
In the app: “Activate rear wiper when reversing”
-
Windows from the key fob
Open the windows a little by holding a key fob button to air the car out. Works only on US-market vehicles.
In the app: “Window control with key buttons”Disabled · hold 3 s · hold 5 s
-
Seatbelt reminder
Turns the unfastened seatbelt chime on or off.
In the app: “Seatbelt warn”
-
TPMS system
Turns tire pressure monitoring on or off. Leave it alone unless you must: on some models switching it off erases registered sensors.
In the app: “TPMS system”
-
BCM code for keys
The app reads the code stored in the BCM. You need it to get the PIN when programming a new key.
In the app: “Encrypted BCM code”
How to change a setting: connect the adapter, open “BCM” on the main screen, wait while the app reads the unit state and flip the option you need. The unit stores the new value immediately.
Verified on these vehicles
Hidden settings are confirmed on the Infiniti QX56/QX80 (Z62) and Nissan Patrol Y62. On other models the set of options depends on the unit: for one second-generation FX owner the options were unavailable.
It also works on many other Nissan and Infiniti vehicles with a CAN bus — connect and check. If it works, tell us and we will add your model to the list.
Step-by-step guides
- 6 min One-Touch Lane Change Signal on Nissan Patrol Y62 and Infiniti QX56 Tap the stalk to the first click and the turn signal flashes three times, then cancels itself. On the Patrol Y62 and QX56 it’s a single BCM setting you can switch on in the Canfiti app.
- 7 min Nissan Patrol Y62 and Infiniti QX56 DRL Activation Without Wiring On the Patrol Y62 and QX56, daytime running lights are a BCM setting: fog lamps, low beams, or LEDs can do the job. All you need is an ELM327 adapter and the Canfiti app.
- 6 min How to Disable the Headlamp Washer on Infiniti QX56 and Nissan Patrol The headlamp washers can be switched off entirely or set to a shorter or longer spray — it’s a BCM setting. No need to pull a fuse, and you can undo it in a minute.
- 7 min How to Disable the Rain Sensor on Infiniti QX80, QX56 and Nissan Patrol If your wipers stopped pausing after a windshield replacement, you can switch the rain sensor off in software and get adjustable intermittent wipes back. Plus two handy wiper settings hidden in the BCM.
